Exciting new changes to our services

We have expanded the services we provide our customers with the addition of the Bank of Ceylon to our Portfolio of Sri Lakan banks. We will soon be able to remit funds directly to account holders of BoC thus saving you valuable time and money.

Kapruka has expanded to New Zealand. Now Sri Lankans living in New Zealand can remit monies to their loved ones via Sampath Bank. Please visit http://www.kapruka.co.nz/ for more details.

We have upgraded our services to you by switching over to eBanking with a majority of the Sri Lankan banks on our portfolio. This means we are able to provide you with a same-day service, where we can directly deposit monies in accounts in Sri Lanka or to be collected the same day for over-the-counter payments.

We have an addition to our Investment services with the signing of an agreement with HNB to provide Mortgage loans to purchase land and property. More details are available on our Investments page.

Our customers can obtain discounted migration and accounting services.

  • To assess the possibility of lodging a PR/TR application contact Lalith Thalakada  Barrister, Solicitor and Migration Agent (Licence # 0501137). Initial consultation free. If you wish to proceed, a 10% discount on legal charges available for Kapruka customers.

These discounts are for the benefit of Kapruka customers but Kapruka has no financial interest in these service providers and therefore accept no liability from customers availing themselves of these services.

Awards Ceremonies for competition winners

The Two economy class return Air Tickets to Sri Lanka awarded by People's Bank for the most number of transactions were handed over by the General Manager, People's Bank Mr. Asoka Silva to winner Mr. Lakshman Gunesekera of Ormond, Vic at a special ceremony convened in Melbourne on the 13th of January 2008.

The Two gold sovereigns awarded by Hatton National Bank for the most number of transactions were handed over by the Managing Director, HNB Mr. Theagarajah  to winner Mrs. Kanthi Wijesooriya, Carnegie, Vic at a special ceremony convened in Melbourne on the 17th of April 2008.

Unfortunately, Seylan Bank has not yet come forward with the prize of "A 7-day stay for two at Cey Sands Hotel, Bentota" they offered for the most number of transactions to Seylan Bank ,won by Ms. Shanika Masters, New Town, NSW.

Please Note the following changes

To comply with the requirements of the Australian government, from 1st January 2008 new customers will be required to provide us with a certified copy of ID (Passport or Driving Licence) giving name, address and date of birth. We will ensure confidentiality of your details is maintained.

With the increased costs we have to face we will be introducing new charges for the following:

  1. With the new eBanking service that has been introduced, files to all banks are uploaded at 5:00 pm AEST. Commercial and Sampath Bank accounts will be credited by about 2:00 pm Sri Lanka time. Any transactions received after this time, will be uploaded on the next working day.

  2. If you need your transaction to go through immediately (Commercial and Sampath Banks) or outside our normal working hours, we shall charge an additional $15.

  3. If any details provided by you are incorrect leading to the remittance being rejected by the recipient bank or otherwise requiring us to re-remit funds, we will make an additional charge of $10 for such remittances.

  4. To follow up on complaints of funds not being received, we will institute a search once you deposit $15 in one of our accounts. If the funds have not been received, we will refund the $15 together with the original remittance fee of $10. If the funds have in fact been received and deposited in the Beneficiary's account, the $15 deposit will be retained as a search fee.

  5. A fee of $10 will be charged to provide a copy of past remittances.

  6. There will be an extra $10 over and above the normal remittance fees charged for accepting funds on Sundays and Public Holidays or after 6:00 pm on weekdays.

  7. The fee for opening new NRFC accounts will be $25. (This service is via People's Bank Only)

  8. Please send us a stamped self-addressed envelope if you require us to mail you a hard copy of the invoice instead of sending it by email or deposit and extra 0.50c when you deposit your remittance.

  9. Our working hours are from 9:30 a.m to 5:00 p.m AEST on Week days and 11:00 a.m to 2:00 pm AEST on Saturdays.
